Cardiomyopathy
- Cardiomyopathy (CMP) is a group of diseases that primarily affect the myocardium
- Restrictive Cardiomyopathy (RCM)
- It is the rarest type of cardiomyopathy
- It occurs in infiltrative diseases:
- Amyloidosis (deposition of proteins)
- Hemochromatosis (deposition of iron)
- Sarcoidosis (deposition of immune system cells and molecules)
- Substances in the heart (iron, proteins, molecules) act as electrical insulators
- The heart becomes rigidly "stiff" (structurally altered)
